99% Invisible, created by Roman Mars, is a narrative series about the design of things people are not supposed to notice.
A curb cut, a flag, a sound, a city plan. Mars and his producers, including a long collaboration with the Radiotopia world, report the object until it has a designer, a fight, and a consequence.
The show changed how a lot of listeners walk down a street. That is a ridiculous claim and also the actual effect. Design is treated as a set of decisions, not as taste.
Episodes are often short. The longer investigations still use the same door: one visible thing, then the invisible argument that produced it.
