Consider This is NPR’s afternoon explanation of one big story, built from the day’s reporting and usually over in about fifteen minutes.

A host frames what happened and why it is the story they chose. You get correspondent tape, context, and a sense of what is still unknown. It is news with a spine, not a diary.

The show is designed for a commute home. It assumes you might have heard the headline and still need the mechanism. That is a different job from The Daily’s morning feature, and it sounds different.

Hear it the day it is published. The episodes are topical enough that a week later you will want the next development, which will have its own edition.
