Fall of Civilizations, written and voiced by Paul Cooper, tells the story of a society that is gone, using archaeology, chronicles, and the landscape it left.

Episodes are long and carefully scored. Cooper is interested in how a city sounded when it worked, and how people at the time explained the collapse that had not happened yet.

The series is narrative history for listeners who want immersion without a fictional overlay. The research is worn lightly. The melancholy is earned by the details, not by the music alone.

One civilization per episode, and the episodes are a commitment. Pausing in the middle of a city’s life makes the ending feel cheaper than it is.
