Letters from an American

Category
News
Language

Letters from an American is Heather Cox Richardson’s nightly essay, read aloud, about what happened in American politics that day and which older pattern it rhymes with.

Richardson is a historian. The letter places a vote, a speech, or a court ruling in a longer argument about democracy, money, and parties. It is commentary with footnotes in the prose.

The series became a daily ritual for listeners who wanted context without a panel. The point of view is explicit. The value is the historical comparison, which you can accept or test.

Read or hear the one from today. The archive is a diary of several years. Starting at the beginning is a project. Starting tonight still gives you the whole method.
