National Emergency

Devices start broadcasting unexplained emergency instructions, and a single mistake makes the listener disappear. National Emergency follows a man convicted of killing his wife during the first incident, then released months later to drive a school bus after hundreds of thousands of emergencies have already been logged.

The Midnight Mystery tells it as serialized fiction, and the story's site is themidnightmystery.com.
