The Other Latif is Radiolab’s Latif Nasser trying to find out why a man who shares his name is detained at Guantanamo.
The search is personal and then procedural: files, lawyers, a camp that does not want to be a story. Nasser’s curiosity is the engine, and he keeps checking it for vanity.
The series is a narrative about identity that refuses to stay metaphorical. Two men, one name, and a legal system that can hold a person out of view for years.
It is a serial with a host who learns in public. The early jokes about the name are the door, not the subject.
